The Level 5 Coaches Symposium will return to the State of Hockey when coaches from around the country come together in Duluth, Minn., in search of USA Hockey's highest certification.
The highlight of the USA Hockey coaching calendar, the Level 5 Coaches Symposium will take place Aug. 20-23 at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center and is available to all Level 4 registered coaches.
The last time the Level 5 was in Minnesota more than 600 coaches attended the event. This year is no different with USA Hockey expecting to see above 600 again. At this event coaches can expect to see a star studded lineup of speakers from NHL coaches to College Coaches and even USA Hockey's ADM staff from around the country. Each presentation will be an hour in length. The topics presented will deal with all aspects fo the game of hockey.
Coaches will select either one of three breakout sessions (12 & Under, 13 & Older, or Gold Goalie Clinic) upon registering for the event. The breakout sessions will be based on those three categories. Attendees will explore innovative approaches to coaching through intensive sessions dedicated to those groups. Coaches will leave with tools and resources that they can use every day.
Level 5 requirements when at the event: Candidates for Level 5 Certification must attend the entire Level 5 Coaches Symposium. Additional information regarding submitted material requirements (thesis or other written material) will be distributed at the event. Attendees will be required to check-in throughout the event, and check-out upon exiting. Failure to do so at any point during the event will prohibit receiving your Level 5 certification. Coaches will go on the ice for at least one breakout session. All equipment (helmets, skates, sticks) are required in order to participate.
This year's event will be Located on the shores of Lake Superior in Duluth, Minnesota, at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center which offers world-class events spanning conventions, sports, arts and entertainment. The DECC is steps away from the charming Canal Park and Downtown Duluth, offering shops, restaurants and hotels for all. Plus, you can enjoy panoramic views of the Aerial Lift Bridge and Duluth Harbor from the event space.
If you're looking for entertainment in the area, look no further. The DECC is home to the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra, Boradway performances, concerts, home and sports shows, the Minnesota Ballet, UMD Men's and Women's Bulldog Hockey and the William A. Irvin ore boat museum.

Jan. 31 - Feb. 29: $525 per coach
Mar. 1 - Aug. 2: $575 per coach
Aug. 3 - Aug. 10: $675 per coach
Written cancellations in the form of a completed clinic refund form must be received in order to confirm cancellation. Verbal cancellations will not be accepted. The clinic refund form can be found at ww.usahockey.com/coachingclinics under the coaching clinic transfer/refund policy pdf. All refunds will be charged a $50 processing fee from original payment.
To receive a full refund, coaches must get their clinic refund form into USA Hockey by August 2nd. If clinic refund form is received between August 3rd - 14th coaches will receive a half refund. Refund clinic forms will not be accepted after August 14th and no refund will be issued.
